Intermark report: Bans on entering Belarus may apply to Russia
Bans from entering Russia as a result of receiving a ban from entering Belarus are on the rise. The joint ban to deny entry to the corresponding country was agreed between the two countries in March.
Denying entry to Belarus and Russia
The border control authorities of the two countries exchange data of nationals from third party countries, who have received a ban from entering their territory.Denial of entry to Belarus may be imposed on the grounds provided by Belarusian legislation, including a violation of the rules for entering and staying in Belarus.As of the 4th of October 2017, violating the of rules of the five day visa-free regime, which was introduced in January 2017 for nationals of 80 countries, has frequently been used for grounds for denying entry to Belarus.Related stories:

The visa-free regime applies to foreign nationals entering and exiting Belarus via the “National airport of Minsk” border checkpoint and does not apply to individuals, taking direct flights from and/or to Russia.Flights between Russia and Belarus are considered domestic, as a result border control at Minsk airport is not exercised for those flights.The list of 80 countries and information on the visa-free regime are available on the official MFA of Belarus website.The Intermark Relocation Services immigration team prepared this news alert.
