The Australian International School’s ‘globally focused, distinctly Australian’ approach provides students with an international education that is underpinned by the Australian curriculum. As the only southern-hemisphere school to offer both the IB and Australian curriculums for students aged 2 months to 18 years, the Australian International School is widely regarded as a leading centre of educational excellence in Singapore.
The Australian International school offers a holistic, rounded education, which cherishes the arts and sport as well as academics as being essential to each student’s learning journey. The AIS curriculum and culture not only values academic achievement, but aims to develop students into adults who have a moral commitment to making the world a better place as reflective, caring knowledgeable and principled people.
Students at AIS enjoy a wealth of opportunities across academics, sport, the arts and co-curricular activities. There is a place for every child at AIS, and as such the school remains non-selective in its admissions policy, confident that it is not intellectual ability alone that determines an individual’s worth or contribution to the world.
As an international school, diversity is at the heart of the AIS culture. With a community made up of more than 50 different nationalities, students are exposed to a truly global education and the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of other cultures.
Despite its non-selective admissions policy, AIS consistently achieves outstanding academic results across all areas of the curriculum. In 2017, the School achieved a 100% pass rate on the IBDP for the second year running, with its highest ever average IBDP point score of 34.5. One of the school’s graduating students received the top score of 45 points and has gone on to study Biochemistry and Bioengineering at Stanford University in the US. The School continues to strive for academic excellence as part of a well-rounded and balanced education.
The school’s newly launched Outdoor Education program provides students with the opportunity to engage in meaningful outdoor experiences, developing a greater awareness of themselves and others through a range of team-based activities.
The program aims to challenge and excite students by providing a diverse mix of activities with varying levels of risk and physical demand. Beginning at 3 years old with nature-spotting trips to the local parks, the Outdoor Education Program follows a progressive pathway which gets more challenging as students move up through the year levels. Activities include rafting, hiking, caving, camping and outdoor cooking, with the aim of building core life skills such as teamwork, leadership and environmental awareness.
