While preserving the best in traditional Indian and International education and culture, we have opted for a student-centred system with ample opportunities for project work and discovery learning, guided by a well-qualified international teaching faculty with generous access to quality in service training both in India and abroad.
With a capacity to house 2000 students each, the schools offer education from Pre-Nursery to Grade 12 to a cross cultural mix of students representing more than 59 nationalities. The medium of instruction is English. The curriculum includes the Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programmes of the International Baccalaureate Organisation of Geneva. The fully international curriculum is not only stimulating and relevant to the 21st Century, but also extremely precise in its approach and serve as the gateway to the world's premier Universities.
While the day cum residential school at Aravali is situated in 34 acres of land on an elevated, wooded site along the majestic foothills of the Aravali Hills, the day schools in Gurgaon and Noida are centrally located on 10-acre sites.
The Curriculum
The IB Primary Years Programme (Nursery to Grade 5) lays the foundations of literacy, numeracy and comprehensibility for the future. At Pathways we aim to nurture skilled, confident children by working on their heart, mind, and psyche by addressing every facet of their existence in addition to academics.
The IB's Middle Years Programme (Grades 6 to 10) builds on the structured, student-centred foundation laid in the Primary School. Students indulge in making connections between subjects and transferring knowledge gained in one subject to another, through cross-curricular Projects. A mandatory component is the Personal Project, an individual long-term project completed in Grade 10. It is the consolidation of learning in middle years of schooling where students choose a topic of their interest which they wish to learn more about. They achieve it through systematic research and are assessed through set criteria.
Diploma Programme (Grades 11 & 12) is the most prestigious pre-university course in the world. A two-year course, whose examinations are taken at the end of Grade 12, is designed to cater a holistic approach towards education. This approach renders itself to nurturing academic excellence, civic responsibility, articulacy, and international understanding. Unique features of this programme include interdisciplinary course of Theory of Knowledge, which stimulates students to question and challenge received opinions. Students are also required to research and write an Extended Essay on a relevant topic of their interest, under the guidance of a specialized instructor. Through Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) the IB programme strives to achieve the perfect balance between academic excellence overall personal excellence.
Technology
The 21st century is dominated by information and technology. Today's generation is exposed to information of titanic proportions, both in quantity and quality. At Pathways, relevant technology with appropriate teacher guidance helps students quickly learn to efficiently use advanced technology as a routine learning tool.
The entire school campus has complete Wi-Fi connectivity. Laptops are made easily available to primary school students and students from middle school upwards have personal laptops which are radio linked to the school intranet and (monitored) internet for anytime anywhere learning. Parents are able to track their children's progress on the internet.
Each student has access to a Design and Technology Studio equipped to industrial standards to pursue individual projects with the support and advice of their teachers and visiting experts. This uniquely valuable subject which is a hallmark of the Pathways curriculum, teaches them to combine an understanding of form, function and creative design while constructing objects.
The fully automated Library and Media Centre not only has a vast range of books, but also quiet story-telling corners. Resources come from a variety of sources from across the world and can be accessed on-line from anywhere in the world, thanks to our state-of-the-art Library Management Software.
Student Centered
Different individuals have different aptitudes. Because schools frequently value only language and numeracy but pay little attention to what children are really like, most students' abilities are under-developed or wasted. Through an understanding of Multiple Intelligences we recognize the various aptitudes within each student, enabling them to use these to improve their learning.
Project-Based Learning is another excellent way for unique individuals to develop their different skills.
In the secondary school our Department of Career and Guidance helps every student to explore possibilities—ones that go in tandem with their respective skills and abilities. The career-counseling department not only exposes them to a wide range of opportunities–both here and abroad–but also helps them choose the right universities and guides them in the application filling process. The Counselor provides time, support, attention, skill and structure that enable students to become more aware of their resources. Meanwhile, reputed universities from India and abroad visit the campus at regular intervals.
Our curriculum has been devised keeping in mind the requirements of students from different backgrounds. Significant steps in this regard include our EAL/ESL (English as Additional/Second Language) programmes run by specialist teachers. Qualified Special Educators in the Special Education Needs (SEN) department offer support for students with learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD and Aspergers Syndrome and also students who are slow learners and are under achieving in core subjects. The Special Educators set the admissions policy so as to ensure that the school is able to, and has sufficient resources to meet the needs of such students.
Our Counselling Department works closely with students at risk or those struggling to meet expectations in order to support their personal development.
Living at Pathways
Pathways Aravali also provides the opportunity for students to stay on campus. The school offers daily, weekly, and termly boarding. Each of the three-storeys, single-sex International Boarding Houses accommodates around 80 students. Designed as homes, each storey has comfortably furnished Common Room equipped with cable TV, and ample space for socializing. Each study bedroom has an attached bathroom, and is occupied by two students. The rooms are also WI-FI enabled to facilitate anywhere-anytime learning within the comfort of a home.
Each floor of the International Boarding House is supervised by an experienced residential House Parent. In addition, all students, whether boarding or day, belong to a small Tutor Group led by a faculty tutor who is responsible for their personal welfare and academic progress.
The school kitchen offers a multi-cuisine vegetarian fare consisting of Indian, Chinese, Continental, Korean and Italian dishes, to name a few. Non-vegetarian students may also subscribe to a non-vegetarian meal arranged by an international catering agency twice a week at a nearby facility.
Beyond Academics
Theatre, Art, Life Science, Drama, Dance and Music form an integral part at every level. We
encourage every student to present and perform through regular assemblies, workshop productions and major public productions. A series of well-equipped music and dance studios provide generous spaces for rehearsing and presenting small-scale performances, while the central amphitheatre, with full stage lighting and sound facilities, is the venue for full-scale productions.
The Sporting facilities include an
Students involve themselves in a host of international events such as Model United Nations, Global Youth Leader's Conference, Harvard Model Congress, Round Square Conferences as well as Inter-School Exchanges. All students engage in community service activities through our Community & Rural Environmental Programmes.
At Pathways we organise educational trips and expeditions to diverse places and terrains—the most prominent, being our mandatory Annual Camp—wherein we take each of our students out to explore new destinations, new possibilities.
Currently, Pathways is the only IB Continuum school chain in India.
