TCPS offers a Montessori Pre-School program which provides a solid academic foundation preparing students for the challenges and expectations of the advanced TCPS Elementary curriculum. 

Students in grades 1 to 12 are automatically enrolled in the IB Programme. The IB Programme is considered to be the “gold standard” in education and an internationally recognized approach to education that will lead our students to some of the highest ranking universities around the world. Students may enter the school at any grade level provided that space is available.

Students graduating from TCPS have traditionally been successful in their university endeavours, with 100% of the graduates, who apply to university, being accepted.

About Us

Located in Markham, Ontario, Town Centre Private Schools is a leading private school drawing students from the Greater Toronto Area, York Region, as well as internationally.

Our students study in state-of-the-art air conditioned facilities, including bright spacious classrooms, a Library Resource Centre, Science and Computer Labs, Art and Music Studios, and full sized Gymnasiums.  A variety of extracurricular programs, trips and visitors, community outreach programs, clubs, and competitive sports league, offer students opportunities to expand their educational and social experience. Extended care is available from 7:00 - 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 - 6:30 p.m. and is provided at no additional charge. 

Montessori Pre-School Program

Prospective students may enrol in the Montessori Pre-School program as young as 18 months of age. The Pre-School offers a flexible program allowing students to attend full days or half days and enrolments are accepted throughout the year. 

The Montessori program is based on a well-known philosophy and teaching methodology. Students learn in an inviting and intellectually stimulating classroom led by Montessori trained teachers. The students are treated as individuals and can progress at their own pace and level of understanding with gentle guidance from their teachers. Each Pre-School class has 2 to 3 teachers. The TCPS Montessori program includes instruction in Language, Mathematics, Social Science, French, Computer Studies, Physical Education, and the Orff Music program.

Town Centre offers a variety of After School Courses as well as a Summer Camp program during July and August with the option of weekly enrolment. 

Elementary School Program (IB PYP Grades 1 – 5 / IB MYP Grades 6 – 8)

For students in grades 1 to 8, Town Centre offers an International Baccalaureate®(IB) Private School program providing a well-rounded academic education preparing and guiding students towards university placement. Students do not need to apply to the IB programme and are automatically enrolled starting in grade 1.  The School provides enrichment in the core subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, History, and Geography. All elementary classes have 2 teachers in each class. In addition to the core subjects, French, Music, Computer Studies, and Physical Education are taught by teachers who specialize in these fields. 

Town Centre is an authorized school for the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and a candidate for the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), for grades 1 to 5, is a curriculum framework designed for students aged 6 to 8. 

It prepares students for the intellectual challenges of further education and their future careers, focusing on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside.  The Middle Years Programme, for grades 6 to 8, is concept driven and requires the development of intercultural awareness as well as international mindedness.

It takes a holistic approach to education by helping students to see connections between what they are learning and their own lives through an inquiry based framework; it furthermore emphasizes connections across and between eight different subject disciplines. Finally, the IB MYP fosters extensive development of both verbal and non-verbal communications skills.

Town Centre students have Study Hall each night that homework is assigned to assist them in completing their homework while still at school.  Students may also participate in a wide variety of After School Courses as well as a Competitive Sports program.  An Elementary Summer Camp is offered during July and August with the option of weekly enrolment. 

High School Program (IB MYP Grades 9 and 10 / IB DP Grades 11 and 12)

Town Centre Private Schools offer a co-educational, private High School and an IB World School with advanced university bound courses. The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) in grades 9 and 10 prepares students for the IB Diploma Programme (DP) in grades 11 and 12. Students graduate with both the Ontario Secondary School Diploma and the internationally recognized IB Diploma. The IB Middle Years Programme is the only officially IB recognized preparation for the IB Diploma Programme. TCPS is registered with the Ministry of Education.

TCPS students can participate in a variety of extracurricular clubs and organizations including DECA, MUN, STRIVE, the school play, and instrumental band. As a member of a private school competitive sports league, Town Centre Schools’ teams participate in a wide variety of sports.
