GEMS World Academy - Switzerland

GEMS World Academy Switzerland is the only International Baccalaureate® (IB) World School located on the shores of Lac Leman between Geneva and Lausanne that offers all three IB programmes to students ages 3 to 18. Our IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP) focus on academic excellence with an extensive extra-curricular enrichment programme which is underpinned by a holistic, values-driven philosophy in state-of-the-art facilities.

We believe that a quality education is about 'preparing for life'. Our aim is to promote inquiring, knowledgeable, reflective and caring learners who develop personal skills that will help create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. As part of this ethos, our students are encouraged to look beyond simple answers and facts, to be curious and creative, traits that will instil a real passion for learning.

GEMS World Academy Switzerland opened its doors in September 2013 and as a World Academy, we are one of five schools within the highest specs of GEMS schools worldwide. As such, we're able to offer our students some of the best facilities, resources, environment and technology. The award-winning GEMS Education network includes 142,000 students in 16 countries and 55 years of educational heritage. This, combined with our multi-cultural, IB-experienced and passionate teachers, gives our students a truly international perspective, broadening their experience of other cultures and belief systems.

All our programmes are taught in English, with French as a second language and German or Spanish as a third language from age 11. Mother-tongue programmes can be supported as well. On-site facilities that prepare our students for their bright futures include a World Language Learning Centre (WLLC) that offers 11 different languages, interactive digital learning areas, radio/TV studios with editing suites, a music technology suite, a comprehensive library, state-of-the-art design and science laboratories, a Music Academy and exceptional sports facilities. Our Sports Centre houses a 25m swimming pool, a learner's pool, a climbing wall, fitness suite and dance studio as well as 6-court multi-sports area.

After school, students can enjoy team sports like football, basketball and netball; individual pursuits like swimming, tennis, judo, cross country running and dance; creative activities like cooking club, art, choir and crafts.

Many of the schools facilities such as the WLLC and Sports Centre are also open to parents and the local community. We offer an extensive programme of workshops and events for our parent community and strongly believe in engaging parents in the education of their child.

The IB Diploma ensures that our graduates have access to universities all over the world. In fact, GEMS has enjoyed some of the best university acceptance rates of any international school with students having been offered places at 980 universities in 48 countries, including 66 of world's top 100 universities.
