9 April 2025Nishioka, a prominent figure in Japanese baseball, played in the NPB for over a decade and represented Japan in both the World Baseball Classic and the Olympics. His visit gave ISKL student-athletes a unique opportunity to learn directly from a world-class professional. The clinic also included Under-15 Harimau Club players, making the experience even more memorable for the wider baseball community.
“Training with Tsuyoshi Nishioka was an incredible experience,” said Eliott S. (’26), Co-Captain of ISKL’s Varsity Baseball team. “It was surreal to learn from someone I had looked up to as a kid, since he was a former Minnesota Twins player, a team I've supported my whole life. His insights and knowledge of the game really made an impact on me, and my teammates.”
Throughout the session, Nishioka and his colleagues, including former Tokyo Giants player, Mr. Shibata and freelance announcer, Mr. Tanaka, shared their passion for the sport and emphasized key values such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.
The event was sponsored by No Boarders Academy, which aims to develop baseball in Southeast Asia, and brought together coaches dedicated to growing the sport in the region. Matthew N. (’26), who had previously worked with the coaches during the No Boarders Baseball Camp, added, “Their passion for promoting baseball in countries where the sport is still growing was inspiring. I hope to contribute to society in the same way they do.”
In addition to baseball and softball, ISKL offers a wide range of competitive sports, including basketball, soccer, rugby, golf, swimming, and more. Learn more at
