IKAN report: e-FRRO visa services to be implemented throughout India
In an effort to ease access of travel to India, the government is to launch ‘e-FRRO services’ for any visa-related facilities throughout the country.
E-FRRO services roll out across India
E-FRRO services have been running successfully as a pilot project in four FRROs across India (Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai), since February 12, 2018, as reported in the India Immigration – Policy Alert, sent by IKAN Relocations. Now it has been rolled out in the remaining eight FRROs, namely Kolkata, Amritsar, Hyderabad, Cochin, Thiruvananthapuram, Calicut, Lucknow and Ahmedabad.Under this new platform, foreigners will be able to get as many as 27 visa and immigration-related services in India (mainly viz. registration, visa extension, visa conversion, exit permit etc.) from the comfort of their place of permanent residence in India. Using the e-FRRO application, foreigners can apply online on the portal and obtain the service(s) through email/post without appearing in person at the FRO/FRRO office.Related stories:

Easing access for visitors to India
Some of the salient features of the e-FRRO include online FRRO Services delivery mechanism without requirement of visiting FRRO/FRO office barring exceptional cases.Using this application, foreigners are required to create their own User ID by registering themselves. Afterwards, they can apply online through registered user ID for various visa and immigration related services in India.E-FRRO will allow foreign tourists/travellers to avail of paperless and cashless visa-related services online while eliminating the need for any human interface, which result in providing fast and efficient services to foreigners visiting India so that they have a pleasant experience of their stay here.A Government Home Ministry release on Friday also stated that online services offered by Indian Government via e-FRRO scheme are not available even in some of the most advanced countries of North America and Europe.IKAN shall now continue to monitor the implementation of the above “e-FRRO” services to the FROs cities (viz. Gurgaon, Pune, Goa, etc.) across India.Meanwhile, please feel free to revert to the undersigned for any further clarifications/information need on Indian Immigration/visa procedures.Information provided by IKAN Relocation Services.Find out all the latest about the global mobility sector in the Spring issue of our magazine
