Historically, we would have expected to have a linear job career, with one job for life and we would climb the ladder to success in this one industry. Today, we have a squiggly career with 12 being the average number of jobs a person will have in their lifetime. In addition, people are living longer. In 2022 there were over 15,0000 people who lived to 100 and beyond. In 2100 this number is predicted to be over 500,000. Statistics have shown that A Japanese child born in 2014 has a 50% chance of living to 109.We therefore need to support the next generation to be future ready. And for this, they also need to be resilient. In 2022, 18% of children aged 7 to 16 years were experiencing a mental health problem. That equates to 5 children per classroom.Indeed a study of the top 1000 successful people around the world showed there were 3 common traits of these individuals – they all had strong communication skills, excellent emotional intelligence and good resilience. As Nelson Mandela once said ‘Do not judge me by my successes, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again’ (2005).Studies have shown that resilience is not pre-determined. We are not born with it but we can develop it. At Dukes Plus our purpose is to empower young people to create a happy and successful life. In order to meet our purpose we support children from cradle to career to fully develop the skills they need to achieve this goal.Dukes Plus is a family of specialised consultancy services and educational experience providers. It has an impressive reach.
